With summer winding down now is the time to book Fall Gatlinburg vacation rentals. If you have never been to the Smoky Mountains in the Fall then you are definitely going to love your trip to Gatlinburg during this very beautiful season. As the leaves on the trees die they change hue to give the impression that they are burning up on the inside, slowly dying in blazing hues of orange, yellow and red. Since the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area is heavily forested this can give the impression that the mountains are on fire, slowly dying before the great winter approaches.

There are a ton of things that a family could do while they enjoy one of the many different vacation rentals in Gatlinburg. But before we get into those details, let’s examine what are some of the different options available to someone seeking to get away in this beautiful mountain town.

One of the first things that people think of when they consider Gatlinburg as their vacation destination is of the many cabin rentals that dot the mountainsides. These are a very popular option for all sorts of people – honeymooning couples looking to have some privacy, church youth groups who just want to have a huge cabin for the kids to play and sleep in, families looking to save some money with the flexibility that they offer for cooking and sleeping, the pet lover who wants to take their animal along to enjoy the wilderness, or even just the solo nature lover who also likes to sleep in a warm bed, cook in a kitchen, take a dip in a hot tub, and take a warm shower. Gatlinburg vacation cabin rentals can be in very high demand because of their popularity so it is a great idea to make decisions about which cabin you want to get as soon as possible.

Another option for those hoping to enjoy the Smoky Mountain experience is to rent a home. These are often very comparable in price with a cabin rental but they are not necessarily off in the wilderness somewhere. Gatlinburg is not a large city like so your choice of rental homes is going to be relatively limited. Also, finding a home in the city is going to be quiet the task since a lot of the searches you can run on the internet are going to bring up Gatlinburg cabin rentals instead of Gatlinburg vacation home rentals like you wanted. You might need to go to other sources to find these types of rentals (craiglist is usually a good source if you can stand their user interface).

Speaking of going to a place like Craiglist to find Gatlinburg vacation rentals, you should also check to see who is the one placing the ad on the internet website that you are on. You can generally get better deals from Gatlinburg vacation rentals offered by owner than you will with one that is listed with an agency. This is usually because owners have a lot more power in setting and negotiating the price on the spot while agencies have to contact owners to make sure that any negotiated price will work for them. In fact, many agencies won’t even let you negotiate prices because of their agreements with their customers. If you really want to save some money find a vacation rental that hasn’t been rented out in a while and that is listed by the owner – they should be desperate to just get someone in there so that they can make some money. This could mean a real cheap cabin rental for you during your vacation here.

Still another option to go with is a condo rental. These can be really nice for those that just want to get in and out – but otherwise they can have some serious drawbacks for your stay in Gatlinburg. For starters, condos generally have shared walls which can make them a poor choice for honeymooners or those looking for a romantic getaway. Also, the size of a Gatlinburg condo vacation rental impacts their viability as an option for families or groups.

Now that we have the different options out of the way we might want to talk about some of the Fall specific things that you can do in Gatlinburg. But before we do that we need to say something about the Gatlinburg weather in the fall. During the month of September the average high is 79 and average low is 54. In October we see a significant drop in temperature to a average high of 70 and an average low of 42. In November we see a similar dip with the average high falling to an average high of 60 and average low 33. Now that is a bit nippy.
